In particular, she is interested in the real life-worlds that 21st-century children inherit, inhabit, and share with others – human and more-than-human; and how these life-worlds are shaped by the legacies of anthropogenic environmental damage, imperial expansion, colonial dispossession, global inequalities, and displacements. She is keenly interested in how educators might develop pedagogies that attend to children’s common world relations in the places they inhabit.
She has published on a diversity of topics relating to early childhood, including Encounters with Materials in Early Childhood Education (Routledge, 2017), Unsettling the Colonial Places and Spaces of Early Childhood Education (Routledge, 2015), Journeys: Reconceptualizing Early Childhood Practices (University of Toronto Press, 2014), and Flows, Rhythms, and Intensities of Early Childhood Education Curriculum (Peter Lang, 2010). She is currently working, with Affrica Taylor, on a book entitled Children and Animals: Common World Ethics for Entangled Lives (Routledge). He is an educator and teaches, supervises research students, undertakes research projects, speaks at conferences, writes, facilitates workshops and offers advice on a number of areas including education, development and ethics in leadership. He is a mentor to many new generation Pacific leaders throughout the Pacific region. Dr Kabini is twice Canadian Commonwealth scholar, having obtained his doctoral degree from the University of Saskatchewan and Master of Education degree from the University of Regina. Dr Sanga grew up as a tribal fisherman in his Solomon Islands village.

His family is from Teller, Alaska, and currently lives in Fairbanks. He is an Assistant Professor for the School of Education at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He continues to work closely with Alaska Native communities and educators, as well as other Indigenous groups worldwide. |

He has been informally adopted by Yup’ik Elders, and formally adopted by the Tlingit and giving him the name Deikeejaakhw. Sean earned a Ph.D. in Indigenous Studies at UAF in 2015; has a Master of Arts degree in Cross-Cultural Studies and Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities, both from UAF. Sean is the founder and leader of the Pavva Iñupiaq Dancers of Fairbanks. Pavva encourages anyone interested in learning about Iñupiaq culture to participate. Members of the dance group include people from all over the Iñupiaq region including: Seward Peninsula, Northwest Arctic, and North Slope regions of Alaska.

Carol has published journal articles in Etudes Inuit Studies, the Canadian Journal of Native Education, Global Studies of Childhood, and the International Review of Qualitative Inquiry and has written chapters in edited volumes published by Sage, Routledge and Peter Lang. Her main concern is with making accessible opportunities to sustain and flourish Inuit ways of knowing and being through early childhood practices in in Inuit Nunangat. During the winter of 2014, Carol was a visiting scholar at the Sami Allaskuvla.

Then, in the late 1960s, I started to work and study in southern Finland. I was there for a couple of decades educating handicraft- and vocational school teachers while also taking a masters degree in pedagogy. Later on, in the early 1990s, I returned to Sápmi as a lecturer in pedagogy at the Saami University of Applied Sciences. I additionally took further education at the Lappi University. As of to date, I have obtained credentials as a pedagogy licensee. Although I am currently retired, I sometimes still do some teaching to stay up to date, for example at the Sámi University of Applied Sciences. In terms of family, I have been very fortunate. My wife and I have 5 children and 13 grandchildren; most of whom live in Saami areas and speak the Saami language.

She is participating to “Engaging the voices of Indigenous (Sámi) Children” -research project with academic research article together with academics from New Zealand. She earned degree of doctor of education from the University of Lapland in 2010 from cultural sensitive thematic field. I am published Sámi education (Peter Lang) and Sámi education history in Finland (Institute of Migration Turku, Finland). She is the Editor of Indigenous postgraduate education: Intercultural perspectives by Karen Trimmer, Debra Hoven and Pigga Keskitalo. The book will form one volume of a series edited by Professor Fred Dervin, University of Helsinki on Research in Multicultural Education and International Perspectives that will be published by IAP (USA). She is also preparing a book of Sámi education by Davvi girji. She is also involved to pan Sámi school history research project.
She have been working as a teacher educator since 1999. Now we are starting master thesis degree studies of Sámi teacher education at SUAS. So, it is very timely to develop Sámi teacher education and research. She was a leader of Sámi teacher education program group by the Minister of Education in Norway in 2016. She is a Sámi scholar, and educator from Finnish Sápmi, Ohcejohka, living in Enontekiö Peltovuoma, Finland. Her Sámi name is Ville Ásllat Piggá. |

The Norwegian Research Council funds the project. In the project, she work together with teachers, educators, children, pupils, students, and of course with her collogues at the teacher education, but also with collogues from other national and international universities. The project have collaborations partners from South, Lule, and North Sámi areas, and they collaborate in the project also with other indigenous peoples.
She took her PhD in education in January 2001 at Luleå University of Technology in Sweden. In her thesis, she studied Sámi multicultural education and especially mathematics teaching in Sámi preschools and Sámi Schools. She have been Postdoctoral Fellow in Education with focus on Sámi education, cultural education and the teaching of cultural mathematics in Tromsø at UiT The Arctic University of Norway. She have experiences from several different action research- and development projects. All of the projects have had point of departure in Indigenous theory and method. In the projects, the participants (children, pupils, parents, elders, teachers, and educators) and she critically evaluated the praxis, set up visions for praxis change, and also implemented change actions in preschool, in school, and in the community. She have an interest of Sámi culture and language revitalization projects. In cooperation with other she have for example started and worked within community projects as Goahteskuvla and Giela muitalusat. She have a special interest in developing a Sámi education on basis of traditional knowledge that take into account Sámi children’s, pupils’ and students’ points of view. She have been working as Sámi a teacher educator since 2011. She is leader of Sámi teacher education program group by the Minister of Education in Norway; they are working with developing guidelines for master programs for primary school teacher education. She is head of the board of Vaartoe – Sámi Research Center at Umeå University in Sweden. She is a Sámi scholar, and educator from Gällivare in Swedish Sápmi, and todaŧ she lives šith her family in Jokkmokk. |
